As you all know, Ryan has had a milk allergy since he was a newborn, he has been tested annually and the results keep getting better. His latest test came back with a level 1 allergy (it was previously a level 2). This means that he is outgrowing this allergy.
What this means? Ryan can start to try small quantities of foods that contain milk, cheese, whey, and casein ingredients. Of course, all closely monitored and in moderation, but he should be able to handle foods that contain milk such as cookies, cake, crackers, etc.
Ryan was very brave on Thursday when Mommy took him to go give blood. Ryan said he wasn't scared when he entered the exam room and continued to talk to the nurses throughout the whole process (I think Mom had a much tougher time then Ryan).
Today we gave Ryan several cheddar cheese flavored Goldfish. He loved them and they had no adverse affects on him (he passed the first test). Over the next few days we will continue to try some new foods. Ryan has always been very aware of his allergy, so he is very excited to be able to try new foods.

hi- I am stef's friend Jennifer -Tim knows me as Jenn Bruno. Just wondering if Ryan was on Nutramigen as an infant? My son who was born in January has been on it due to what the doc says is a milk intolerance and we won't know if it is a milk allergy until he is older and we start foods, etc. he is almost 6m and we are going to start him on rice cereal fruit veggies when he is 6m.Just wondering what your experiance was, how did you know he was allergic and such. you can email me at jnfer@aol.com thanks for any info you can pass on.
We knew Ryan had an issue right off the bat. From day 1 in the hospital he would spit up entire feedings. We had him on the isomil formula from the time he was 3 days old. As we started to try real food- the first being yogurt- he would start vomiting until it was out of his system. His pediatrician tested him (thru blood tests)every 6 months to check his levels. He started as a level 2 now he is at level one. Usually kids outgrow the allergy completely by the time they are 4. We avoided any products containing milk, casein, and whey proteins and basically stuck to a lot of soy/vegetarian products.
